Lately I have tested the new Ford Explorer 2006 RSC Advanced Trail. And I was impressed. I leave you to get a complete list of directions of this the most selling SUV in North America some other place on countless websites, in auto mags, and present below impression and opinion of my own.

Other than that it is provide car’s comfort in each dimension with fantastic noise protection. Strong engine almost silent, suspension soft enough, dashboard is well designed with all buttons of a right size and in correct place except perhaps gear shifter that looks like an on/off turn on a children electronic toy.

I am a vehicle guy, so to keep on SUV/car comparison I have also figured out the front passenger of new Explorer is a little discriminated (as at most trucks and cars) compare to the driver in its ability to go in/out of the wagon. While driver enjoys “seat moving back” feature when key is out from ignition, passenger is climbing in its seat with far less comfort capability. However both driver and passenger seats are snug even for a long ride. Praising designers for the Explorer’s dashboard I will withdraw some compliments back while talking about within door handles. As for me they are found too low to be good to grab to open/close the door for an average size man.

Every vehicle today is a receptacle of cap holders and Explorer is no exception. But not every one has convenient and big enough glove box, so our tester is definitely not a winner here.

I like adjustable pedals, it’s a great option. But is it safe to permit the driver to adjust pedal while driving?

There is plenty of room on a second raw seats and roomy enough though less snug on a third. At least you’ve got an option : carry six passengers and no baggage or 4 with descent cubic photos on a back of your Explorer.

For some reason all 4 doors of new Explorer in their lowest part are sharply curved towards the body of the vehicle and it’s cool and doubtless gives some extra rigidity. But if you are inclined to notice with regret each new scratch on your beast/beauty body ( pick the one ) ; you’ll see them (scratches) for sure shortly after taking Explorer off road for a first time. Scratches easily appear on a lower part of rear doors which sandwiches between the vehicle’s frames and sidestep with so small clearance between, that sand and muds sticking to the doors are working as abrasives for all surfaces.
Few years ago I have tested then new Explorer 2001 along with others SUVs in a same class like Nissan Pathfinder, Jeep Cherokee and so on. That Ford Explorer was not much different or worse than other contestants in terms of off road capabilities. But it was squeaking and crackling on each major pothole or bump. There’s nothing like this on Explorer 2006.

Year after year consumer demands more and more from the vehicle and auto requests to keep pace. Ford made it with the new Explorer. It is truly great truck.

Ford Bronco II Engine Design Flaws

Sold between the years 1984 to 1990, the Ford Bronco II was built and manufactured to be a compact sport utility vehicle. It was actually built to be a compact complement of the full sized Ford Bronco. It was also targeted so as to be the direct competitor to the Chevrolet S ten Blazer and the Jeep Cherokee.

This vehicle held a 94 in. wheelbase that was very similar to the Volkswagen Beetle. The mechanical parts were much like the Ford Ranger pickup’s mechanical parts. The 1st models came out equipped with a 2.8 liter V6 engine which was much similar to the 2.8 litre engine that was employed in the Ford vehicles marketed and sold in Europe. Come the year 1986, the Ford Bronco II came introduced with a 2.9 liter EFI V6. It’s been said that this engine was cursed from the beginning with design flaws. This engine regularly suffered from premature cylinder head failure and loss of valve train lubrication as well. This occurred when the valve train lubrication wasn’t rigorously maintained. However, Ford was in a position to see this flaw immediately and it acted on changing or correcting this failing in the soonest time possible. Come 1989, this error was already corrected. However, the Ford Bronco II had already amassed not attractive comments and a not so good reputation to potential buyers. These buyers were worried about the protection of this vehicle.

This automobile has also been reputed to tip over during some situations because of the high center of balance. Later in 1991, the Ford Bronco II platform underwent a major redesign and was released to be wider and longer.
